Larry Madowo, Kenya’s most successful journalist export, has accepted a new position at CNN.
Larry will now headline the CNN show ‘African Voices Changemakers,’ which will focus on newsmakers from throughout the continent.
Larry has covered a wide range of news items around the world since joining the worldwide network in 2021, including flooding in Nigeria and coronavirus vaccine inequalities, as well as the August 2022 elections.
“He has also broadcasted from Expo 2020 in Dubai and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, reported from the World Economic Forum in Davos and anchored news shows from Atlanta,” the statement read.
While announcing his new role, Larry said the opportunity is surreal as he was first featured on the show in 2017 speaking about his work as a Kenyan journalist.
“Some personal professional news: my role at CNN is expanding. I’m the new host of African Voices Changemakers. I was featured on the show in 2017 so it’s surreal to be taking over Tell me your stories,” he tweeted.
“This is a full circle moment for me.”
His first show will air on February 25.
From the CNN website, African Voices has aired for over a decade, with the show meeting entertainers, creatives, athletes, and members of the public who are making a difference.
“The show also hosts individuals who find ways to impact their communities, and make cultural contributions,” the statement read.
