KPLC Responds To Power Outages in Most Parts of Kenya
The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has explained power outages experienced in parts of Nairobi on the morning of Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
In a statement on Tuesday, the power supplier revealed that the outage was due to a collapsed tower along the Kiambere-Embakasi high voltage transmission line.
“We have lost power supply due to collapsed towers on the Kiambere – Embakasi high voltage transmission power line at 10.45 am this morning.
“Our engineers are working to restore electricity supply as the repairs are being undertaken. An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course,” the statement read in part.
KPLC proceeded to apologise for the inconveniences that may result from the outage.
“We wish to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused,” the statement reads.
This comes days after Kenyans complained of power outages across various parts of the country.
However, KPLC denied having power interruptions in some parts of the country.
This is after a statement alleged to have been made by the Company cited a technical hitch in its supply chain for the outages in some areas.
The statement indicated that two of its major lines had been affected by the hitch leading to the blackouts in some regions in the country.
“We would like to inform our customers that we are experiencing a power outage in parts of Nairobi, Rift Valley, Western Kenya and South Nyanza following a technical hitch that has affected two major lines supplying power to these areas,” the fake statement read.
