A journalist from the UK, identified as Simon Clark is currently facing the wrath of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) after filming Kibera Slums in Nairobi, as he referred to it as ‘Africa’s largest urban slum.”
Many of Kenyans expressed their anger accusing him of travelling to Kenya to publicize poverty and humiliate Africans yet most of European countries are facing the same challenges.
According to his Twitter bio, Simon describes himself as Journalist and Author who has previously worked for The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg.
On 28 June, he visited the Kibera slums in Nairobi where he documented his encounter with the residents.
“I visited Africa’s largest urban slum – Kibera in Nairobi – on June 15. The next day I was in nearby Upper Hill – Kenya’s richest square mile – to talk at the East Africa Venture Capital Association’s conference. Here’s a thread about innovation, inclusion & humanity.”
“Rich and poor live side by side in many cities and rarely meet. For example, London’s Canary Wharf financial district is in Tower Hamlets, a deprived area.”
“I discovered untold riches in Kibera. “Kibera people are rich in ideas,” George said. “The only thing they lack is the capacity and the funding.”

This didn’t sit well with most Kenyans as seen on the reactions below:
Did you come for the conference or to take photos of the slums? Don’t you have homeless people in your country? 🤔

Kibra was represented on parliament by the current presidential candidate Raila Odinga for 26 years. He was also the prime minister for 5 years. Just for your information.
