Former UDA vice chairman Kipruto Arap Kirwa believes that allowing political entities to die naturally is beneficial.
Speaking with K24 on Wednesday, Kirwa stated that hastening the demise of the Jubilee party is undemocratic.
“Let us allow the natural attrition process. Do not accelerate the death of any political entity. It goes against the principles of democracy,” Kirwa said.
He claims that Kenya Kwanza is hastening Jubilee’s demise by infusing ‘executive meddling’ into institutions that should be independent.
Kirwa also said that President William Ruto’s reference to Deputy Minority Whip Sabina Chege as a fellow party leader was a mockery of the democratic process.
“The President is a reasonable person. He is a very intelligent person. And referring to a matter that is still in dispute and calling Sabina Chege ‘my fellow party leader’ was a mockery of the same democratic process,” Kirwa said.
Chege is accused of orchestrating a coup in Jubilee and of replacing senior party executives with EALA MP Kanini Kega.
Chege is believed to have taken over as Jubilee party leader from former President Uhuru Kenyatta, while Kega claims to be the party’s Secretary-General, having succeeded Jeremiah Kioni.
On Monday, Uhuru requested the rebels to retire amicably from the party because he thought they had betrayed his leadership.
“Just move and leave us be in peace. And those seats that we gave you, please return them and we give them to others,” he said.
