Evans Kidero, the Trade and Investment Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), released a statement after his assistants were engaged in the Londiani catastrophe, which killed over 45 persons.
Kidero reported, through his communication officer Jack Nduri, that his driver and bodyguard were among the hundreds of people killed in the traffic accident.
According to the statement, Kidero’s bodyguard and driver were in a black Range Rover with the registration number KBS 786R when it was attacked from behind and on the side.
On June 30, 2023, the SUV was one of several vehicles hit when a trailer lost control and crashed numerous cars at the Londiani intersection on the Kericho-Nakuru highway.
“My driver and Sammy soldier (the bodyguard) were part of the accident victims at Londiani where more than 50 people lost their lives and a similar number in critical condition at various hospitals in Rift Valley. Our hearts go out to families who lost loved ones with heartfelt condolences and prayers,” Kidero said in a statement.
The former Nairobi governor further disclosed that his aides survived the tragic accident.
“We thank God for the lives of Christiano the driver and Sammy soldier Wuod Asumbi. We continue to pray that God Will continue to oversee safety on our roads,” Kidero added.
