Love knows no boundaries—and definitely no age limit. Just ask Frank, a 31-year-old Kenyan plumber from Ukunda, whose love story is turning heads across social media. His partner? A 55-year-old woman named Ilona from the Czech Republic.
Their unlikely romance didn’t blossom in a café or dating app—but on TikTok Live.
“I stumbled on her Live and started following her quietly,” Frank said on Oga Obinna’s YouTube show. “I didn’t know her, but I started dropping cheeky texts like ‘Hey baby, come to Kenya.’ Because, you know, mwanaume ni kujituma.”
At the time, Frank had no money, no fancy lifestyle, and no clue that his playful flirting would eventually change his life. But Ilona—graceful, mature, and financially stable—was intrigued.
The Sh100 That Sealed the Deal
As messages flooded Ilona’s comment section from men urging her to visit Kenya, she jokingly responded with a challenge: “Anyone who wants me to come should send me Sh100.” A test of generosity.
Frank, seizing the moment, sent the Sh100. That small gesture didn’t just stand out—it sparked a connection.
“The moment I sent it, she noticed me. She started texting me… then sending me money for chocolate, like Sh1,000 or Sh500. That’s when things really kicked off,” Frank shared.
From TikTok to Ukunda
Eventually, Ilona made the trip from the Czech Republic to Kenya. Frank, excited but cash-strapped, found himself in a dilemma—he didn’t even have fare to get her from Mombasa to his home in Ukunda.
“I had to pick her up from Mombasa, but I had no fare back. When she saw that, she gave me Sh1,000 for transport. That touched me,” he recalled.
From that moment on, their bond grew stronger.
Wedding Bells and Side-Eyes
Now popular on TikTok as a couple, Frank says public opinion can be harsh.
“Some people throw shade, but then ask me in private how they can also get an older woman—some even say ata wa seventy,” he laughed.
But Frank doesn’t entertain negativity.
“I don’t like negative energy. I just focus on what makes me happy.”
As for Ilona? She’s all in. She’s already talking wedding plans and settling down with her Kenyan sweetheart.
“Sometimes in life, you take a risk. If it works—great. If not—you move on,” Frank said with a smile, clearly proud of the love story he dared to write.
