“Nataka kujua ni risasi ama alidungwa kisu” – Heartbroken mother of 12-year-old boy shot in Rongai speaks up
Kennedy Onyango’s mother, Josinter Ochieng, has come forward to address the incident where her 12-year-old son was caught in the midst of the protests and left for dead.
In a video posted by Hussein Khalid, the director of Haki Group, Josinter was seen in anguish as she pleaded for the truth to be uncovered regarding the circumstances surrounding her son’s passing.
She also urged for transparency and accountability from those who were involved in the tragic events.
In her distress, Kennedy’s mother sought answers from both medical professionals and the government, demanding to know the cause of her son’s death and emphasizing that he was not at fault.
According to Kennedy’s mother, her son was only 12 years old, innocent and too young to be involved in any protests.
Accompanied by several Kenyan activists, Kennedy’s mother spoke to journalists who were present for the postmortem exam that was conducted in Rongai.
“Mtoto wangu alikuwa tu only 12 years old, hawezi enda maandamano.
On Thursday, June 27, 2024, Kennedy Onyango died by gunshot as state law enforcement personnel attempted to disperse protesters against the finance bill in Ongata Rongai.
