Kalenjin musician Faith Therui dumped by hubby despite paying his university fees

Popular Kalenjin musician Faith Therui married Addison Cheruiyot in 2022, hoping for a happy union.

However, the marriage has faced numerous challenges, leading the singer to publicly share her struggles.

Faith admitted that she had been hiding the issues in her marriage from fans but could no longer stay silent.

“2024 was not my year. I found some marriage challenges. I was hiding it so much. I was going through so much. I was even paying fees,” she revealed.

Fans Had Warned Her

Faith acknowledged that her fans had cautioned her about her ex-partner, advice she regrets ignoring.

She likened her experience to the tragic story of the late Kalenjin star Diana Chelele, whose marriage ended in heartbreak.

“I want to apologise to my fans. They warned me, and I did not listen. They had told me to remain single and not turn out like Chelele. I wanted marriage so badly because the father of Kibet (her teenage son) had not married me. I thought married life was sweet. I saw people living together and loved being married. I did everything with my whole heart.”

Faith Paid Fees for Her Partner

One of the most shocking revelations was that Faith paid her ex-husband’s school fees while he deceived her about the amounts.

For example, she disclosed that he provided falsified receipts showing semester fees of KSh 135,000 when the actual cost was KSh 76,000.

“I saw dust. I had told him to continue studying since music is unpredictable. He studied at Kabarak University, and when he was admitted, we went together, and I paid his fees. They used to tell me the school fees were KSh 135,000, but when I followed up, I learned that was not the case. A friend of mine used to edit the school fees receipts. I learned about it when my friend sold me their phone and they were yet to delete their messages on Messenger. I nearly died. I broke all the sufurias, our table. It was so painful.”

Faith confessed that she deeply coveted the idea of marriage, especially after having a child out of wedlock. She had hoped for stability and happiness in a union but now reflects on the challenges and heartbreak she endured.
