Junet Accused of Slapping Moha Jicho Pevu at BBI Rally in Mombasa
Suna East legislator Junet Mohamed was reportedly involved in a scuffle with his Nyali counterpart Mohamed Ali, Jicho Pevu, at the BBI rally in Mombasa.
The rally was held successfully despite instances where DP Ruto allies, led by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, were heckled on arrival at the event at Mama Ngina Waterfront Park, Mombasa on Saturday, January 25.
“Junet Mohammed slaps Jicho Pevu. Ndio hayo kwa sasa (That’s what I can say for now),” our source claimed.
A report published by The Standard, on Saturday, January 25, further detailed that two leaders were involved in a scuffle over sitting arrangements.
Murkomen, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa faced a hostile crowd upon their arrival at the event.
The crowd attempted to block them from accessing the VIP dias.
However, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho intervened and calmed the situation.
Murkomen, when given the chance to speak, asserted that leaders had to remain united. He also changed tune and supported BBI being enacted through a referendum, a move he had opposed in 2019.
“Baba. The people of Kenya do not oppose any of the recommendations, whether be it PM or deputy PM, for that we shall give them a referendum,” he asserted, as the crowd cheered him.
Cherengany MP Joshua Kutuny hit back at Mukromen, arguing that Ruto’s allies should have apologised for demeaning Odinga, rather than changing tune to recognising him as Baba.
“They should be here apologising for calling Odinga a mganga (witch doctor). However, we have seen that the mganga treats and they have finally recognised him,” Kutuny argued as the crowd cheerfuly rallied him to continue with his speech.
