Kenyans took George Wajackoyah as a joke when he announced he was running for presidency in the August 9 general election under his party, Roots Party of Kenya. Last week, he shocked many when he passed the IEBC verification process to become a official presidency candidate.
Now, Wajackoyah and Roots Party seem to be making strategic moves. The party has appointed Wilson Muriani Gathoni, artistically known as Jaymo Ule Msee, as its official party spokesperson and head of media. In the press-release released to the media, Roots Party noted that Jaymo is experienced in media, digital marketing and political campaign strategy.
It also noted that Jaymo holds a degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Nairobi and his experience and skills would be an asset in enabling the Wajackoyah bag the presidential seat.
Jaymo reposted the press-release with caption noting his appreciation for the appointment. He thanked Wajackoyah and his running mate, Justina Wamae for having faith in him. He promised he we would work hard to help the party win popularity in favor to the election.
His appreciation post read,
“It’s with utmost humility that I accept the appointment as the Roots Party spokesperson & Head of Media. I truly thank the 5th @profgeorgewajackoyah , our running mate Justina Wamae & our party officials for having faith in me to serve in our party to ensure we get a resounding victory on the 9th of August .It’s time for our generation to make the right choices.”
Jaymo’s post received positive feedback, with most of the people congratulating him for the new position. Two days ago, Jaymo had posted a video of himself and Wajackoyah in the latter’s office.
The video had Chronixx’s hit, Here Comes Trouble, playing in the background. With Jaymo on its side, the Roots Party will be indeed “trouble” for other parties eying for the top-seat since it will a lot of young people’s favor.
The Roots Party has been the talk of town due its stance regarding legalization and commercialization of bhang in Kenya. Jaymo’s appointment comes days after rapper Nonini endorsed Wajackoyah as his preferred presidential candidate. Mkenya leo congratulates Jaymo and wishes him the best in new role.
