Davidson Wakairu Gatuhi called Bragga, the son of Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe, has stepped up his political ambitions by involving the young in numerous programs.
Wakairu, who owns and runs three businesses, was hoping to earn a seat in the General Elections of 2022, but we don’t know what changed his mind.
In 2016, the 28-year-old student created Vijana Amkeni, a youth group. The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) empowers young people across the country in terms of politics, social issues, and economic opportunities. It also aims to make the environment more sustainable.
“I saw the need to begin a movement that brings youth together to voice issues and be involved in national affairs. We use social media to mobilise each other,” he said in an interview at Switch TV in 2019.
Wakairu went on to say that they have planted 250,000 trees in various Kenyan counties and aimed to plant 47,000,000 trees by 2022.
The organization also mentors young people on health and mental well-being, a concern he became passionate about after witnessing an increase in suicide cases in Kenya.
Murathe’s son is also the President of Davidson Wakairu Gatuhi (DWG) Holdings and DWG Wines, two wine marketing and promotion organizations.
He graduated from the Marbella International University Centre in Spain with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Advertising.
For one year, from 2018 to 2019, the businessman served as president of the student board and was recognized for his leadership and managerial abilities.
He is described as a tycoon and an extroverted person by his close friends.
He is also a well-known event planner in Nairobi.
Wakairu enjoys traveling across the world and is a car fanatic who frequently drives a Mercedes Benz convertible.
Waturi Wakairu Wamboye, his sister, works for Nova Pioneer in East Africa as a talent recruiting manager. Nova Pioneer is a network of schools that prides itself on generating generations of innovators and leaders.
Waturi, or Turi as her close relatives affectionately refers to her, works as a research analyst.
