The luxurious Kileleshwa estate in Nairobi is home to the multi-million dollar five-star Emory Hotel. Lizzie Wanyoike, a multibillionaire entrepreneur and the creator of the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), is the owner.
Mrs. Wanyoike stated to Business Daily in June 2018 that the 72-bed hotel would run solely as a profit-oriented enterprise.
“We are seeking to use the hotel as a job-creation venture and we have already recruited staff in all of its departments. We will also offer opportunities to suppliers to partner with us in making the business profitable as well as serve our tax obligations for the benefit of the national economy,” she said.
Lizzie further stated that the hotel would offer NIBS hospitality students practical skills, attachment and employment.
According to the publication, the hotel cost Ksh450 million to construct. It was funded by Equity Bank through a negotiated credit package.
