Presidential aspirant Prof George Wajackoyah has pledged that he will introduce snake farming in Kenya if he is elected the 5th president of Kenya.
Speaking at Citizen TV’s JKL show on 8 June, the Professor said Kenya has many snakes that can be used for economic purposes.
“Kenya has many snakes, we will catch most of them and extract the poison for making medication and give the meat to Chinese to eat and help offset our debts,” he noted.
“A lot of people are bitten by snakes in this country and we have to wait for snake doses from outside the country from pharmaceutical organisataions,” the presidential candidate said.
Responding to how is government will repay the loans burden facing the country he said:
“The solution for national debt is growing marijuana which will enable this country to clear all the outstanding debt and have enough money for all Kenyans so that we can sustain and arrest the situation.”
Adding:
“Prof George Wajackoyah: Abuse of anything is serious. We should not, therefore, be selective and say that it is only marijuana. Everything has to be regulated and standards have to be set.”
Wajackoyah’s runningmate Justina Wambui seconded him, saying:
“When we have our own marijuana, we won’t need to tax Kenyans as a source of funding. We also won’t need external debt at high interest either.”
Here are some of the reactions by Kenyans on Twitter
