The Lawyer, who is eyeing Westlands Parliamentary seat in the 2022 elections, says the Western region has lacked leadership for a long period of time.

According to Havi, since the passing on of former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa, a leadership void was and is yet to be filled.

“t is undeniable that in their times, Moses Mudavadi, Masinde Muliro and Kijana Wamalwa provided leadership for the People of Western Kenya. The gap left has never been filled. I will, therefore, take up the role and henceforth, provide needed guidance in Western leadership,” Havi tweeted.

His remarks come at a time when ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula are jostling for the control of the region.

The two leaders have failed to fold their parties and form an outfit that will see them united and front one of them as the region’s undisputed leader.

While Wetangula commands a fanatical following in Bungoma County and parts of Trans Nzoia where his Bukusu tribe hail from, Mudavadi has been the undisputed leader in Vihiga and parts of Kakamega County.

Their commands in the region have not been dominant as such given that more leaders have emerged claiming to be kingpins. They include Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and even former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.

Mudavadi and Wetangula have both been endorsed by their respective parties for the presidency.

They are all in One Kenya Alliance (OKA) that is working on modalities of fronting one candidate to face-off with Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
