Raila Odinga, the leader of the One Kenya Alliance, slammed his Kenya Kwanza rival William Ruto on Tuesday over allegations of vote manipulation.
Raila said Ruto should stop crying foul and prepare for defeat during a campaign stop in Makueni County’s Machinery town.
“Nimesikia huyo jama wa tangatanga (Ruto) analia kuna njama ya kuiba kura. Ati ooh ‘kura yangu imeibiwa’. Atii ooh wamebadilisha wapiga kura,”Raila said.
“Kura yako (Ruto) iko wapii? Yeye Tayari ameshaona dalili ya kwamba anaenda Kushindwa.”
This loosely translates to, ” I have heard Ruto crying foul that there is a plot to rig elections. He saying his votes have been rigged. He again said voters have been interchanged. Where is your (Ruto) vote? He has already seen the signs that he is going to lose “.
The ODM leader oozed confidence in his ability to defeat Ruto in the upcoming elections in August.
Raila stated that he has the support of many Kenyans and that he is confident in his victory. He focused his agenda on diseases, illiteracy, and poverty alleviation.
His comments came two weeks after the UDA leader claimed that the IEBC had removed nearly a million voters from his strongholds.
“You (EU envoys) have seen in the media that there was an attempt to obliterate names from the IEBC register and almost 800,000 names have somehow disappeared from the registers.
It is in the public domain and I think even the IEBC has said they are doing remedial steps,” Ruto said during a meeting with the European Union at Karen.
Wafula Chebukati, the chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), denied the charges as unfounded, stating that every voter data has been accounted for.
“Let’s not talk about one million names missing, there is no such a thing, it is not there.”
