When love goes sour in celebrity couples, you will know it. You will notice that they have deleted their partners’ photos even before they break the news.
For Machakos governor, Dr. Alfred Mutua, it is different. Mutua broke up with his ex-wife Lilian Ng’ang’a last year.
Even though their breakup was somehow bitter, Mutua has not yet deleted Lilian’s photos from his social media pages, and he claims he will never delete them.
Speaking to an online publication, Mutua revealed he was keeping Lilian’s photos to cherish the good times he had with her. He argued that memories with someone you loved are difficult to forget regardless of how bad your relationship ended.
He explained that good memories help him accept their separation and remain positive that he will move on to what God has in store for him.
For him, God brought Lilian into his life, and it is his duty to preserve the good times they had even though she had left him.
He explained, “God brings people to your life for whatever period that God chooses and you celebrate the time you spend with those people. Regardless of any bad outcome or falling out, usually, if you spend a long time with anybody, as a friend, as a lover, as a family, the good times are better and more than the bad times. You don’t just wash away the good times, you celebrate the good times and you accept the position that God has given you and then you move on to what God will give you next and life continues.”
He claimed he would maintain the same attitude when dealing with A&L, a hotel he started with Lilian.
While the hotel is disputed as Lilian accused Mutua of illegally transferring her shares to his sister, Mutua maintained that the hotel would still carry its name.
“The name of the hotel retains unless God changes….because it’s a company. It’s an outfit by itself, it’s not an individual,” he said.
He added that he had no ill-will against his ex-wife because he is kind-hearted, contrary to how he had been portrayed in the breakup saga.
On her side, Lilian seems to be enjoying her new memories with singer Juliani whom she dated immediately after leaving Mutua. Lilian and Juliani are now married and are expecting their first child together.
