Holy Dave, a gospel artist, appeared in Kibera Law Courts on Thursday, January 12, to face assault accusations.
David Musyoki Kimanthi, a former TV presenter, is accused of attacking a businessman at Gemini Adlife Lounge Club by beating him with an empty Konyagi beer bottle.
He was charged with unlawfully assaulting Keem David and causing him actual bodily harm on October 1, 2022 at Gemini Lounge Adlife Plaza along Ring Road Kilimani.
Holy Dave denied the charge in front of Kibera Principal Magistrate Jacqueline Ojwang and was released on KSh 10,000 cash bail.
According to court documents, the event occurred in the club around 1 a.m. on the fateful Saturday, October 1.
On the said date, Keem who was in the company of two female friends were having fun at the club’s VIP section.
Keem said he was not taking alcohol since he was the designated driver for the night.
According to a filed report, trouble began when Keem’s friend Paul Odhiambo who was seated at another corner decided to join him at his table on the VIP section but was blocked by a bouncer near the complainant.
Keem tried to intervene by trying to inform the bouncer that his friend Odhiambo was coming to their table but Holy Dave allegedly emerged from another table, shouted at him and asked why he was protecting Odhiambo from the bouncer, the report stated.
It is then that Holy Dave hit him on his left side of his face with an empty Konyagi bottle.
It was documented in the report that the victim started bleeding after sustaining a deep cut on the left side of the face near the eye and was assisted by his friends who used a serviette and sweater to try to stop further loss of blood.
The accused and the victim are said to have been escorted outside of the premises security guards.
Keem was shortly afterwards taken to Coptic Hospital for treatment.
