Gladys Chania, a Kiambu politician, wrote a heartfelt obituary for her late husband George Mwangi, who was allegedly murdered in their marital home.
When Mwangi was buried at the couple’s house in Mangu, Gatundu North in Kiambu county, her sister Judy Chania read Gladys’ eulogy.
The burial was closed to the media, but a hidden recording of it later surfaced, showing Judy sobbing as she attempted to read her sisters’ tribute to her late husband.
Gladys shared memories of her marriage and the family’s expansion as a result of raising their three children during the eulogy.
“My husband, it has been 24 years since the day we settled together on Sunday, April 25, 1998. We have grown from two to five. I thank God for the way your care and concern surrounded our family day in and day out. Just like any other family, we had our highs and lows but each day we held our love for each other,” Judy read as she tried to hold back tears.

She was joined by other family members who gave her the courage to finish reading her sister’s eulogy for her husband.
“For now that you have left us untimely, we shall try to fit in your shoes but it is already difficult to fill them. Brian wonders why you will not see him go to university. I promise to uphold all your wishes and see the success of your children. Rest in peace my love, the father of our children,” the tribute read.
Gladys was detained as the main suspect in her husband’s killing, and she is currently free on a Sh1 million bond with a similar surety.
Police believe the Kiambu lawmaker was responsible for the murder after blood-stained sheets were discovered in their home, disproving her claims that Mwangi had been kidnapped from the residence.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, charges of adultery put the marriage in jeopardy.
