Kate was born on February 3, 1987, in Nyandarua, Kenya.
She partially grew up in Mombasa, where her parents were working. She currently lives in Nairobi.

Kate went to Machegecha Primary School in Kandara for her primary education. She then proceeded to Chogoria High School for her secondary education. She discovered her talent in acting after she joined the drama club in Chogoria.
However, her acting would later cost her. In an interview with Jeff Koinange at Hot 96 Breakfast Show, she claimed that she was expelled from Chogoria High School when she was in form two after she pretended to be the school’s principal.
After Chogoria, she joined Loreto Convent Msongari, where continued her acting. She completed her secondary education with the “Miss Loreto” title.
She then joined Makerere University in Uganda for her tertiary education, but she had to drop her studies two months later after she got pregnant.
