#FreeAll! Where is Cartoonist Gideon Kibet alias Kibet Bull?
As four young Kenyans abducted in December 2024 reconnect with their families, the question remains: where is Kibet Bull?
On Monday morning, the families of Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, and Rony Kiplang’at shared the relief of hearing from their loved ones. Mwangi and Muteti have even physically reunited with their families, while Kavuli and Kiplang’at have been located in Kitale and Machakos County, respectively.
Muteti, found in Nairobi’s CBD, was reportedly disoriented and is now recovering at home. Despite these positive developments, Kibet Bull’s family is still in the dark about his whereabouts.
A Family’s Agonizing Wait
Kibet Bull, a well-known cartoonist, was abducted following the disappearance of his brother, Rony Kiplang’at. While Rony has now been located, the family says they have received no direct word from Kibet.
“We are relieved Rony has been found, but the silence surrounding Kibet’s case is unbearable,” said a family member.
The family’s anxiety deepens as more of the abducted individuals return, yet Kibet remains missing. His disappearance has raised widespread concern, with friends and colleagues in the creative community joining the call for his safe return.
Ongoing Concerns Over Abductions
The wave of abductions that swept through December 2024 has left many families traumatized and questioning the state’s commitment to protecting its citizens. While the return of Mwangi, Muteti, Kavuli, and Kiplang’at is a glimmer of hope, other missing individuals, including cartoonist Kibet Bull and Steve Mbisi, remain unaccounted for.
Rights groups have criticized the lack of transparency in addressing these cases, demanding thorough investigations into the abductions and the role of law enforcement agencies.
The Public’s Role in Seeking Justice
The plight of Kibet Bull and others like him underscores the importance of vigilance and public accountability. Kenyans continue to rally behind the families of the missing, using social media and other platforms to demand answers.
The creative industry, where Kibet Bull is a prominent figure, has been particularly vocal in amplifying his case, urging authorities to expedite efforts to locate him and others still missing.
As families hold out hope, the nation remains united in one question: where is Kibet Bull?
