Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) secretary-general Francis Atwoli’s ex-wife, Rosalinda Simiyu, will be on the ballot paper vying for the Bungoma woman Rep seat in the coming August general elections.
Rosalinda, who is trying her luck in politics for the second time, will be vying under the ANC party.
On Monday, April 25, ANC party leader, Musalia Mudavadi handed her her nomination ticket in Nairobi.
Musalia announced that the party had officially agreed to support Rosalinda, and they were wishing her all the best.
He noted, “Hon. Roselinda Atwoli has officially received the party’s nomination certificate to contest for the Bungoma Women Representative position. We wish her all the best.”
Interestingly, Rosalinda became estranged from Atwoli in 2007 when she ventured into politics, which Atwoli was against.
In January this year, Atwoli caused an online stir after he took to his social media to disown Rosalinda, claiming that he was surrendering her to Deputy President, Ruto, who was the then Eldoret MP.
His controversial post read “Roselinda was surrendered to William Ruto in 2007 in his Eldoret townhouse. She is no longer on the list of my relatives. Ruto can now add her, free of charge, to his two recently acquired bearded wives to him have three wives from western. Western Kenya is in Azimio.”
His post came after a day after Rosalinda announced that she was joining Ruto’s Hustlers movement in a rally in Western.
The relationship between them will seemingly be more estranged as Rosalinda’s party is under Kenya Kwanza, the political umbrella championing for Ruto to be president, whereas Atwoli supports the Azamia One Kenya alliance supporting Raila for the presidency.
