Residents of Varsityville estate in Kamakis are counting losses after Uhuru dam burst it’s banks.

Photographs shared on social media showed homes flooded with water due to the heavy rainfall being experienced.

Uhuru dam which is in Ruiru burst its banks early Thursday morning following heavy rainfall.

During this rainy season, Nairobi has changed and become a filthy city choking underwater, with burst sewer lines and poor drainage systems.

Over the weekend, the Aga Khan Hospital in Parklands bore the brunt of the raging waters as a section of the facility became flooded.

Pictures and videos of water flowing downstairs and flooded corridors went viral on social media but the management later issued a statement that the situation had been handled.

Nairobi residents from Embakasi to Thika Road and Westlands, have also posted pictures on social media of flooded roads and open manholes.

Videos of flooded homes at an apartment on Likoni Lane in Kilimani estate were also circulated on social media.

Families along the end of Likoni lane off Dennis Pritt Road, Kilimani endangered. Floodwaters have broken walls and homes being flooded. Urgent assistance needed,” a statement from Kilimani Project Foundation read.
