An Eldoret-based car dealer has made 1500m champion Faith Kiyegon a happy daughter, after gifting her father with a brand new Toyota Probox.
The company behind Kipyegon’s father’s unusual gift is Rana Auto Motors.
She worked hard to keep her emotions in check as she accepted the car on his behalf.
“I was not expecting this. I am so happy and emotional that my father is getting a car from the CEO of Rana Auto Collections. I was going to buy him one and I said it at State House. I don’t know what to say,” she said.
She thanked the car dealership, which had also come out to congratulate her on her recent running accomplishments.
Kipyegon stated that she would keep working hard and breaking down all conceivable barriers in her profession.
“I just want to thank you for coming out to hold me by my hands and gift him. I want to promise that I will continue to work hard to motivate young girls and youths around the world and Kenya to know that everything is possible in life and that hard work pays,” she said.
Few days ago, President Ruto rewarded Faith Kipyegon with a bunch of goodies including a house and Ksh.5 million in cash.
Kipyegon went on to state that she had promised to gift her elderly father a new vehicle if she broke the world record; a promise she said would be able to keep, with the cash prize from the government.
“Thank you so much, Mr. President. I’m so happy with the reward, now I can own a house in Nairobi, and with the money I can say now I can buy my father a car. I promised him that when I broke the World Record that I was going to buy a car for him…now I can fulfil my promise,” said an emotional Kipyegon, in between tears.
Kipyegon broke two World Records in a span of one week at the Diamond League in Florence, Italy and Paris, France; she ran the 1,500 metres in a time of 3:49.11 and the 5,000 metres in 14:05.20.
