Media personality and former Homeboyz Presenter Charlie Karumi has opened up about why he quit his job at Homeboyz Radio eight months after joining and his decision to relocate to Canada.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Charlie explained that he moved to Canada to be closer to his wife, a postgraduate student in the town of Courtney.
He, however, confessed that he had not planned to live outside Kenya. He wanted to live in Nairobi Estates like Lang’ata or Kinoo. Hence, his wife suggested they relocate to Canada after she got an opportunity to study there.
Although he was reluctant to leave the motherland, he acknowledged that it was difficult to feel at home in Kenya without his wife.
“My home is wherever my wife is,” he said.
He went on to reveal that his wife traveled first, and he followed her months later after his visa was processed. He claimed that he had to sell his car before traveling.
“Earlier this year, my wife came over first. “She came over in January, and I waited for my Visa to process and it finally did I packed my bags, sold our car, and flew miles away from home,” he explained.
Regarding what he plans to do in his new home, Charlie disclose he wanted to be an actor. He claimed that he had been thinking of becoming an actor for a long time but was never confident enough to pursue the dream.
He recalled, “I am going to be a movie Star. There was a time I thought that sounded pretentious but now I am speaking it into existence.”
According to him, Canada, especially Vancouver, is a nice place to realize his dream of becoming a movie star. He claimed that most movies are shot in Vancouver; hence, it will be easy for him to break into the industry.
Vancouver is a place where they shoot many films and TV shows. It’s like Hollywood’s well-mannered cousin. I need to break into the industry from there to the world,” said Charlie.
