Elvis Murakana, the son of Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi, has passed away.
Murakana succumbed to injuries sustained in a grisly road accident on Tuesday, March 25, after battling for his life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
His untimely death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from political leaders and the public, with President William Ruto leading the nation in mourning.
“May God grant Mheshimiwa Beatrice Elachi and the family strength to bear with the loss of their dear son, Elvis Murakana. Be comforted by the word of the Lord in Psalm 147:3: ‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds,’” President Ruto stated in his message of sympathy.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, under which Elachi was elected to represent Dagoretti North, also sent their condolences, acknowledging the great loss.
“May God grant Hon. Beatrice Elachi (MP, Dagoretti North) and her family the fortitude and strength to overcome the pain of losing her son Elvis Murakana Namenya. It is such a huge loss to Mheshimiwa. As a party, we stand with her during this difficult moment of mourning and grief,” ODM stated in an official statement.
Other leaders also expressed their sorrow over the tragic incident. Busia County Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo shared her heartfelt condolences, saying, “My heart goes out to Hon. Beatrice Elachi and her family following the tragic loss of their son. On behalf of my family and the people of Busia County, I extend my deepest condolences. Pole sana.”
Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai also mourned the loss, recognizing the immense pain that comes with losing a child.
“It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to you and your family on the tragic loss of your son, Elvis Murakana. As the MCA for Kileleshwa Ward, I join the people of Dagoretti North and beyond in mourning this profound loss. Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and my thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time,” Alai stated.
