Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president, is currently staying in the village for the Easter break.
Gachagua traveled a few kilometers to see his aunt Gladys Gathoni, who lives nearby.
“It brought back memories of similar journeys I made to her home in the seventies, to get yellow passion fruits,” Gachagua said.
The second in command was in the company of his wife Dorcas in the wee hours of Friday morning.

On his way he met village mates whom he grew up with, some were in their usual business of the day.
“We exchanged greetings and shared lots of laughter. Our people remain hardworking, aggressive and focused, “he said.
Gachagua’s aunt Gathoni prepared a heavy breakfast meal for the two and accompanied it with prayers.
They had boiled maize and porridge for breakfast.
“Seeing her makes me remember my late mother who looks exactly like her and talked like her. Parents are a blessing and we must always take care of them especially at old age,” he added.
