Didmus Barasa, the Kimilili MP, now claims that schools are abusing parents by using the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Barasa claimed that teachers have been using CBC to eradicate poultry from houses while speaking at a funeral in Bungoma.
Barasa, who demonized CBC, said that teachers had taken advantage of the rigorous curriculum to underpay parents.
“Mwalimu anaambia mtoto ati kesho tunasoma juu ya kuku. Ukichukua kuku wanasoma firigisi na maini alafu mwalimu anaenda nayo nyumbani kwenda kukula,” Barasa said.
Adding:
“Walimu wamekula kuku mpaka imeisha kwa maboma ya watu. Hiyo CBC tunataka iondolewe kabisa.”

The contentious MP claims that during practical lessons, teachers invite students to bring in chicken so that they can be dissected, have the useless parts removed, and then have the flesh taken home to cook.
This is one among the reasons, according to the legislator, that President William Ruto’s administration is thinking of doing away with the CBC.
