Recently, Raila Odinga’s ardent supporter Nuru Okanga found himself in a very emotional predicament.
Okanga was relieved when Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki intervened to pay his son’s substantial hospital bill, as he had been suffering an immense financial burden as a result of his son’s protracted illness.
Kadri Maloba, the son of Okanga, had been hospitalized for more than three months due to a kidney failure diagnosis.
Okanga was in a tight spot, having to sell two of his cows to try and make ends meet due to his escalating medical bills.
Regretfully, his attempts proved futile, as the family was incapable of paying the amount necessary for Kadri to be released from custody.
In a desperate attempt to get support, Okanga turned to his political allies inside the Azimio coalition.
Still, not many responded to his devoted support of the movement, which put the father of two in a difficult position.
The turning point was when Interior CS Kithure Kindiki offered to pay the full hospital bill after becoming moved by Okanga’s and his son’s plight.
Okanga posted a message of thanks on his Facebook page after becoming extremely grateful.
“I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest thanks to CS Kithure Kindiki, who generously cleared the hospital bill for my son, Kadri Maloba.
“I am also incredibly grateful to MP Babu Owino, Michael Mutembei Makarina, OMOSH ONE HOUR 001 Majoka Mjk Bunge a mwananchi Jacaranda and everyone else who supported me and my family during this challenging time. Your kindness and assistance have made a world of difference, and we are truly thankful.”
