Very sad
The Kenyan government, through the Ministry of Health (MoH), on Wednesday revealed that one of the patients who tested positive for Coronavirus escaped the isolation facility at Mbagathi Hospital and came into contact with 85 people.
The female patient is said to have left the isolation facility without permission after which the government deployed the security apparatus to track her down and was able to apprehend her
“We had a patient who was brought to Mbagathi and she tested positive. She left the facility without authorization but through the security team we were able to track her down and have established her contacts. As at now, we are tracking down 85 of her contacts and will give a brief on the results,” MoH’s Director General Dr Patrick Amoth announcedat a press briefing held by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.
During the briefing, Kagwe announced Kenya had 3 new confirmed cases of coronavirus – bringing the total number of positive cases to 7.
The CS added that 18 patients were being held at Mbagathi Hospital awaiting results, reiterating that those with suspected cases were legally required to quarantine and risked a jail sentence for defying the isolation order.
