On Saturday, March 18, Citizen TV anchor Jamila Mohamed received her Master’s degree from Aga Khan University.
The Nairobi-based university offered an Executive Master’s program in media leadership and innovation, which the Swahili anchor was studying.
The journalist said in a statement that she placed among the top pupils in her class and was given a trophy in recognition of her outstanding work.
“I was the third best in my class! It is an honour to receive the award from my project supervisor,” read the statement in part.
Consequently, her employer also took to social media to congratulate the News Gang show host on her new achievement.
“Royal Media Services (RMS) Managing Editor Jamila Mohamed graduates with a master’s from Aga Khan University,” Citizen TV posted.
Other Kenyans also joined and celebrated the journalist for her achievement.
“Congratulations Jamila Mohamed. One of the many things you do right is the memo. Always a voice of reason. Addressing real social issues. May you find grace and strength to continue. Congratulations on your graduation,” Godfrey Muriungi.
Kudos on your achievement Jamila. We are very proud of you,” Illerbe Bake echoed.
Upon her graduation, Jamila became a holder of two Masters. Her first was in international conflict management from the University of Nairobi.
She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies from UoN.
Jamila was named among the Top 100 Influential African Women in 2022 by the global media outlet, Avance Media.
