Charles Onkoba: Meet the talented young Man, aspiring journalist who owns Kangwana Media
Charles Onkoba Onku 20 years-old-guy from Getunwa village in Kisii county. He was born in 2004, and celebrates his birthdays on 24th of October.
He is passionate about journalism.
He owns Kangwana Media online TV and broadcasts his news and shows on his YouTube channel.
The fast rising Kenyan freelance journalist has created his home studio where he works on his content and records the videos by himself.
Following his fresh breath of creativity, his online TV has gained massive following on social media. His presenting and reporting skills in Swahili can be simply described as excellent.
Charles became a national conversation after Citizen TV’s Rashid Abdalla and Lulu Hassan featured his admirable reporting skills.
The talented student said he began his online TV initiative in order to raise his school fee while at Musora Secondary School.
He is currently pursuing journalism at KIMC.
Kangwana comes from a loving and humble family of Tom Onduso and Rebecca Onkui. The family resides near the slopes of Sameta Hills.
His parents are casual workers who earns a little income from picking tea, to support their children.
Charles’s parents are both supportive and proud of his newly founded path in the media industry.
“Mamangu na babangu hawana kazi. Mamangu hufanya vibarua vya kulima shamba na kuchuna majani chai. Babangu huwa anawasilisha ng’ombe zilizouzwa kwa watu tofauti. Mum amekuwa akijitahidi kunilipia karo kutoka kwa pesa za chama. Wasamaria wema hunichangia pesa kwenye online TV yangu,” Charles told Tuko.
Charles’s parents are both supportive and proud of his newly founded path in the media industry.
“Ninategemea vibarua. Ninaweza kupata au kukosa. Wakati mwingi, mimi hupata chakula. Babake pia hana kazi,” Onkui’s mother told TUKO.
