GSU officer go missing after killing his wife lover

Police in Nandi have launched a manhunt for a General Service Unit (GSU) officer suspected to have murdered a 29-year-old man said to have been having a relationship with his wife.

The GSU officer, who is based at Lokichogio in Turkana County, is said to have beaten to death Henry Cheruiyot after he reportedly found him in bed with his wife on the night of August 22, 2022.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the GSU officer had travelled home in Tinderet, Nandi County for his leave when he found the man at his home with his wife.

An altercation then ensued and the paramilitary commando is believed to have descended on the man with an avalanche of heavy blows and kicks, before leaving him for dead and taking flight,” stated the DCI.

“Rotich was found lying unconscious beside a road at Nduroto village in Tinderet by well-wishers, who rushed him to Meteitei sub-county hospital.”

The DCI further revealed that Cheruiyot’s condition started deteriorating at Meteitei hospital, after which he was transferred to the Nandi County Referral Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Investigations into the case led to sleuths to unearthing evidence that linked the officer to the murder after the deceased’s clothes were found in his house.

“A search conducted in the officer’s house by detectives led to the discovery of the deceased’s blue T-shirt, a hood and blood-stained inner-wear that had been stashed in a sack,” DCI noted.

The deceased’s body is currently lying at Nandi County Referral Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
