The Jesus Compassion Ministry (JCM) community is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of Pastor Peterson Mwangi, whose lifeless body was discovered at his father’s farm in Sagana, Kirinyaga County.
The news has left the church, led by Bishop Ben Kiengei, in deep shock and sorrow.
Pastor Mwangi, who had faithfully served the JCM congregation in Mtwapa, Mombasa, passed away under tragic and unclear circumstances. His death has raised many questions, with loved ones struggling to understand the events leading to his demise.
Bishop Kiengei revealed that Mwangi had been silently battling personal struggles. The distressing news of his death was delivered by Mwangi’s wife, leaving the bishop heartbroken and reflective about the young pastor’s unspoken pain.
Bishop Kiengei’s Emotional Tribute
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Bishop Kiengei mourned the loss of a promising young pastor with a bright future in ministry. He expressed his sorrow over Mwangi’s silent struggles, lamenting the tragedy of a life lost too soon.
“Even if you were at your end, battling at the top, someone could have heard you,” Kiengei wrote. “A young soul has departed—a bright, promising servant of God.”
One of the lingering mysteries surrounding Mwangi’s death is why he travelled from Mombasa to Kirinyaga to take his life.
“When I received a call from your wife, I thought you were somewhere praying or visiting a friend. Instead, I learned you had taken your life days ago. Your lifeless body was found on your father’s farm in Sagana,” Kiengei shared.
He added, “Why come all the way from Mombasa just to end your young life? How I wish you had spoken to someone. One day, depression will also be defeated.”
A Call for Mental Health Awareness
Mwangi’s tragic death has ignited conversations about mental health, particularly among young people in ministry. His passing is a sobering reminder of the importance of seeking support and speaking out about struggles before they become overwhelming.
The JCM family and its leadership continue to mourn the loss of a vibrant and dedicated servant, praying for healing and awareness in the face of this profound tragedy.
