“Hakuna uchaguzi itafanyika Kenya” Mwangi Wa Iria threatens if IEBC removes his name from ballot

On Sunday evening, drama erupted in Kenya’s Bomas, as Usawa Kwa Wote, a presidential candidate, protested his name being removed from the nomination record.

In a video obtained by the Star, Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, who is running for president, questions why his name was taken off the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s schedule despite the fact that he had met all of the original prerequisites.

“Even people who failed to meet requirements are in the schedule but my name has been removed… no election will be conducted if I will not contest,” he threatened.

Wa Iria insisted that he met all the requirements including bringing signatures from supporters in 24 counties as required and the commission even acknowledged receipt.

“We cannot start rigging that far… They have deliberately removed my name today.”

Following his protest, the Star has established that IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati chaired a crisis meeting over the same at Bomas.

Governor Wa Iria is expected to meet Chebukati on Monday at 9 am over the omission of his name from the presidential nomination registration.

The meeting will be held at Bomas of Kenya.

The Usawa Kwa Wote presidential aspirant has called on all is supporters to accompany him to the meeting on Monday.

“All H.E Mwangi Wa Iria Supporters and Usawa Party Aspirants are directed to be at Bomas of Kenya tomorrow at 0900Hrs to accompany him to meet IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and later international press conference,” reads an alert sent out by the party.
