Azimio la Umoja Members of Parliament marched out of the chambers on Thursday, June 15, only minutes after Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u began presenting the 2023/24 Budget.
In protest, the MPs jeered the CS and chanted songs before holding a news conference outside.
In the midst of the confusion, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula brought the house to order.
The MPs staged the walkout minutes after the CS mentioned that the budget was the first for President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.
CS Ndung’u proceeded to give highlights of the Ksh3.6 trillion budget minutes after the short disruption.
