Roselinda Simiyu Atwoli, the ex-wife of Cotu boss Francis Atwoli, has asked Deputy President William Ruto for assistance in paying her child’s school expenses.
Roselinda alleged that Atwoli had abandoned them and that her child hadn’t attended school since the start of the school year.
“Kuna mtu mmoja ambaye wameacha mabibi hata mtoto. Mheshimiwa Ruto, I’m addressing you, naomba niko na mtoto ambaye tangu mwaka ianze hajawahi enda shuleni. (There is someone who has left his wife and child. Honourable Ruto, I’m addressing you, I have a child who hasn’t been to school since the beginning of the year.)
“Najua Atwoli amekutukana, najua amekwambia matusi lakini on behalf of a mother, nisaidie mtoto aende shuleni (I know Atwoli has abused you but for the sake of a mother, help take my child to school.)” she said
At the Kenya Kwanza event on Monday in Naitiri, Bungoma County, Roselinda gave a speech.
The seasoned trade unionist disowned Roselinda in late January after she joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) side of Ruto.
Atwoli, a fervent supporter of Raila Odinga’s bid for president of Azimio, brushed off her defection as unimportant.
“Roselinda was surrendered to William Ruto in 2007 in his Eldoret townhouse. She is no longer on the list of my relatives. Ruto can now add her, free of charge,” Atwoli said in a tweet.
In this year’s elections, Roselinda was nomionated to run for the Bungoma Woman Rep position under ANC party.
