The complexity of the Kenyan music industry has seen artists both prosper and fail depending on the caliber of their efforts, as well as their professional and personal choices.
Also, a great factor lies more on the kind of support a particular artist gets from their fan base. As they say, fans (Kenyans) can either make or break you.
This brings us to the trending story of a gospel DJ, popularly known as DJ Kezz Kenya.
On 27 July, she posted a beautiful photo of her daughter kissing each other. For her, it was a good gesture to show the world an awesome daughter-mother relationship; but to many people this was wrong and immoral to say the least.
“I believe in Jesus Believing in Jesus as Your Savior is the beginning of Love received, and without it we can never value and properly LOVE OURSELVES. If we believe that GOD who is perfect loves us, then we can LOVE OURSELVES, and if we can do that, then WE CAN LOVE OTHERS! Good morning friends, unajipenda?” DJ Kezz captioned the photo.
The photo elicited mixed reactions among her fans.
Here are some of the comments:
Titus Kipkosgey: I am your great fun Kezziah, but this is morally wrong
Brian Jalas Yobra: lovely…some of us grew in African set up ata hug ya mama hatupewi…..this is pure love
Gladys Aketch: This is not right let us not lie to this lady she is a minister in the Lord and her deeds should speak so.
Lutah B Shitanda: If it was a Man and his boy child tungekuwa tushafikishwa Hague. Anyway a woman is always right.
Cynthiah Oigara: Its non of our business l agree ….. but all these people can’t be wrong my dear ,sometimes its good to consider corrections…. showing love is good but that’s too extra think about the impact
Deborah Nyabuto: I was trying to mind my own business but the way she even closes her eyes , she understood the assignment anakaa pro🤣 but at her age that’s not the way , anyway mimi sina mtoto let me be thined by mine
DJ Kezz’s reaction
The beautiful gospel DJ was not pleased with the comments. She was forced to fire back saying people were sexualizing the whole thing.
“YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. I am shocked and annoyed! Are we seriously going to sexualize a mommy-daughter picture? It’s y’all audacity!! My daughter and I share hugsies (hug+kiss)all the time, literally everymorning when we wake, every night before bed, randomly during the day.. this is our normal. I get it though, nyinyi hamfanyangi hivyo.. But keep your opinions to yourself! Especially on this one! Also check yourself! If you have the audacity to call a kiss between a mom and daughter all those names you have! YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. ” she said. Adding:
“Nasikia ata yesu mlikua mnampiga mawe hivi hivi tu Wacha nitulize boli, uwanja ni mdogo.” In conclusion, we want to understand what you think about this issue: Is it right for a parent kiss his/her child?
