Comedian MCA Tricky has discussed the significant difficulty he encountered building his six-bedroom bungalow in Machakos county.
Tricky revealed to TUKO.co.ke that a dubious contractor nearly botched the KSh 7 million project shortly after it began.
Francis Munyao, a mechanical engineering graduate, said that the con artist defrauded him out of nearly KSh 300,000.
“If you are far away from your construction project, the contractor can easily mess you up.”
Tricky claims that he hired a contractor to help him learn, but things did not turn out the way he had hoped.
“We have a young construction company with my partners, and an architect from our company did even the house plan. I hired the contactor so we could work alongside him and learn.
However, he messed up the first step, and I chased him away. I involved the law and we are pursuing the matter.”
The comedian warned Kenyans looking to build houses to be wary of con men posing as successful contractors online.
“They are everywhere. They post photos of nice looking houses but they steal the images and pose them as theirs.”
Tricky also spoke about pursuing his master’s in mechatronics engineering, saying he has a packed schedule and even gave up partying. However, he admitted he is enjoying his final year.
“School is exciting, but it is not easy. I don’t have time. The master’s is more involving than the bachelor’s degree as you have to connect many dots to have a sound thesis.
But I have a team, and we are moving together as classmates. My professors are also very helpful.”
