Celebrated Gospel Singer Evelyn Wanjiru has revealed why she could not conceive in the first nine years of her marriage to her husband Agunda Bweni.
Speaking to Mungai Eve, Evelyn explained that she had been suffering from severe hormonal imbalance that made her body not to be strong enough to hold her husband’s seed.
“My body had a hormonal imbalance and my body was not able to hold to my man’s seed,” she said.
She, however, had suffered from the condition but she did realize it until she visited a doctor. She claimed that she would miss her monthly period for four to six months it never worried her because she thought her frequent traveling affected her periods.
She told Mungai, “I would miss my period for 4 or 5 months but at the time I was never worried. It never clicked that something was wrong with me.”
Adding, “We travel a lot and I assumed my hormones were being affected by the weather.”
Even though Evelyn and her husband did not think about having children the first five years of their marriage, they new something was wrong because they did not get pregnant despite not being on contraceptives.
Evelyn explained that she and her husband had focused on their company, Bwenieve Studios, during their first five years of marriage. After the five years, it hit them that they had not conceive despite playing safe by avoiding contraceptives.
The pressure of not conceiving was mounting as they were turning old and Evelyn was afraid that she may never be able to conceive.
Moreover, the medication for her hormonal imbalance was overwhelming her as she could understand how she could not conceive yet she was taking her medication religiously.
Evelyn recounted how she was disappointed that her songs were working miracles to her fans yet they failed in hers
“It was eating me from the inside but I was singing for people. People would tell me how my song ‘Naweza’ blessed them yet nothing was working out for me,” she said.
Fortunately, her painful waiting experience is now in the past as God of Sarah and Hannah visited her at last.
Eve and Agunda welcomed their first child, Baby Mshindi, last month and they have not been shy to testify God’s faithfulness.
