Rigathi Gachagua, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential running mate, has been under fire since his appointment for making a series of inflammatory remarks.
Gachagua revealed why a segment of the Mt Kenya area inhabitants decided to support Deputy President William Ruto’s administration while leading the coalition’s campaigning in Nandi county.
Gachagua began the event on Saturday, May 28, by stating that citizens of the Central region are well-known for their fondness for money.
As a result, the outspoken Mathira member said that Mt Kenya people, who are predominantly Kikuyus, backed Ruto’s ambition to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta because of money.
“Hii pesa ni kitu kizuri sana. Pesa ni sabuni ya roho na inavunja mlima na ndio pale kwetu mlima because tunapenda pesa, tumesikizana na huyu kijana wenu William Ruto (Money is sweet, it moves mountains, fit is for that reason that we support Ruto) ,” said Gachagua.
According to Gachagua’s comments, Ruto either paid the region to gain their support or they love him because of his business and money-making skills.
It’s worth mentioning that the second in command is known for his huge pockets, and his detractors have questioned how he makes his money for quite some time.
The leader of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has been courting the area’s roughly 5.8 million electorates, who are thought to determine his presidential bid’s destiny.
Gachagua was in the news a few days ago for his inflammatory remarks about Safaricom and Kenya Airways.
Ruto’s government, according to Gachagua, will focus on supporting small enterprises rather than large corporations, as outlined in his bottom-up economic plan.
For example, the MP stated that rather of having one major company, such as telecommunications behemoth Safaricom, they would rather have money invested in a number of little enterprises.
