Langata MP hopeful and Comedian Felix Odiwuor aka Jalango has officially unveiled his manifesto of what he plans to do for the residents if elected.
Using ‘Utu na Watu’ tagline, Jalas revealed his mouthwatering agenda, stating that:
“We have a plan! Have a look and a read through my manifesto and plan for my Langata people! Check my stories for the full manifest.”
Background
“My home is in Siaya County but I was raised in Homabay county. I am 38 years old, married to an amazing Muslim woman, proud family man son and loving brother to 3 siblings, especially my only sister Linda.
I spend only about 30 days of the 365 days in the village but I am always interacting with Langata. My candidature was born from my association and interaction with people who actually need my service.
Langata to me is the most diverse constituency but it is not equitable. Not much has been done to bring her back to former glory, I envision a vibrant Langata with all her people. I can not do this out of parliament and my ability to lobby is why I am the best person for the job .
I will beg on behalf of my people; and build a Langata where everyone can thrive. That is my solemn promise”
Focus
According to Jalas, he will focus on 5 areas including Education, Universal Health, Infrastructure, Sports/arts and SMES.
Infrastructure (Roads, sewage, water)
Langata constituency has perhaps the biggest disparities within the
wards. Whereas everything looks rosy in Karen, those in South C and Mugumoini have some of the worst drainage system, water shortages and outages. Therefore, I will:
- Improve and prioritize recarpeting of all worn out roads within the constituency.
- Lobby for and ensure for more national government participation via allocations meant for the constituency and fast track their building.
- Lobby for and rebuild the broken sewer systems that cause unsightly floods and blockages posing health hazards.
- Ensure every house hold within Langata constituency has access to the county run water and it is not rationed.
Universal Health
Universal Health is no longer a conversation, it is an issue. I intend to lobby for:
- Improved infrastructure in the available hospitals and health centers not only to have enough medicine but also to give the basic ones free of charge.
- Free medicine for common diseases; constituents should not be dying of Diarrhea, Malaria or Pneumonia in 2022.
- Equip our health institutions with functional and up to date ambulances
- Better and improve women reproduc tive health rights by offering education to the marginalized many and ensuring allocation of free family planning clinical care in sub county hospitals and health centers.
