Jalango’s wife, Amina Chao, is making money moves.
Amina has opened a multi-million hotel in Nairobi’s CBD, a project termed to be expensive.
The hotel, Wapek Delicacies, is fashioned to serve African delicacies, and it will be the only one doing so in CBD.
Jalang’o shared the good news in a press conference at Wapek.
According to Jalang’o, his wife had been dreaming of starting a luxurious hotel for a long time, and he was glad that he had helped her to turn the hotel into a reality. He, however, insisted that his wife had contributed the largest percentage to making the project a success.
He also explained that the hotel’s name, Wapek, is of Luo descent, and it means ‘heavy.’
“We are heavy on traditional food, we are heavy on good drinks, we are heavy on good vibes, we are heavy on good music,” he explained.
Most importantly, Amina’s good cooking skills inspired her project. Jalang’o joked that Amina’s cooking had resulted in him adding weight, and thus, the name “heavy Jalas.”
He, however, noted that Amina won’t be cooking at the hotel, as people would expect. He claimed that she had employed experienced chefs of traditional Kenyan delicacies to ensure the customers experience the best.
Interestingly, the new restaurant has a bar section, something Amina was against, according to Jalang’o. He explained that his wife is a Muslim; thus, he had a hard time convincing her of the importance of setting up a bar in the hotel.
He said they eventually agreed, and the bar area will also be for entertainment purposes. He revealed that it would be used to host comedy shows and bands to make the customers have an enjoyable experience.
He also revealed that their friends had given them much support, and they were grateful.
He concluded by announcing that Raila, the Azimio flag bearer, would launch the hotel officially.
Congratulations to Amina and Jalas!
