Mike Okinyi, a sports anchor for Citizen TV, has been named to the steering committees for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2022 Africa Youth Games in Cairo.
Amina Mohamed, the committee’s chairperson, was chosen by Sports CS Amina Mohamed, who would be accompanied by Sports PS Joe Okudo.
Culture PS Josephta Mukobe, Foreign Affairs PS Macharia Kamau, and Commonwealth Games President Paul Tergat are among the committee’s important members.
The Steering Committee’s role will be to oversee the preparations for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022 and the Africa Youth Games in Cairo in 2022.
The team will also approve the final roster of athletes and officials who will compete in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2022 Africa Youth Games in Cairo.
From July 28 to August 8, 2022, Kenya will compete in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Kenya will be competing in the Games for the 17th time.
As part of the popularization of the games that bring together former British colonies, Kenya was awarded the 2022 Commonwealth Games baton in 2021.
The baton, which will travel to 54 Commonwealth countries, carries a message from Queen Elizabeth II, the games’ patron.
Each Commonwealth Games Association organizes an agenda of activities during the Queen’s Baton Relay tour, ranging from exhibiting how they involve young people in sport to showcasing the wonderful individuals who are pushing for change in their communities.
