The Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Korir Sing’Oei, has broken his silence on the looming execution of Kenyan national Margaret Nduta in Vietnam.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Sing’Oei revealed that he had held high-level discussions with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Nguyen Minh Hang, in a bid to secure a stay of execution for Nduta.
“Had a telephone conversation this afternoon with my counterpart, H.E. Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam over the matter of Margaret Nduta. I conveyed to Madam Hang the anxiety of the Kenyan people on the impending execution of our national and reiterated our request for a stay of execution to allow our two countries to find a path to resolving the issue,” he stated.
Sing’Oei expressed appreciation for the Vietnamese government’s willingness to consider Kenya’s petition, noting that Madam Hang assured him the request was under review by the relevant authorities. He further affirmed that the Kenyan diplomatic mission in Bangkok is actively monitoring the case.

Margaret Nduta, a Kenyan citizen, is facing the death penalty in Vietnam under circumstances that have triggered widespread concern in Kenya.
Her case has sparked urgent diplomatic efforts, with the Kenyan government seeking avenues to intervene and possibly negotiate an alternative resolution.
As the matter unfolds, the Kenyan government has reassured the public that it remains committed to pursuing all available diplomatic channels to ensure justice for its citizen.
The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs continues to engage with Vietnamese authorities in the hope of securing a favorable outcome for Nduta.
