National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has reaffirmed that Kenya Kwanza remains the Majority Coalition and Azimio the Minority Coalition, dismissing a recent High Court ruling that suggested otherwise.
Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, February 12, Wetangula outlined several reasons why he believed the court’s decision was flawed, insisting that the Parliamentary leadership structure would remain unchanged.
According to his ruling, Kenya Kwanza retains the majority status with 165 MPs, while Azimio remains the minority with 154 MPs.
Wetangula emphasized that, given the circumstances, Kenya Kwanza would continue as the majority coalition, while Azimio would remain the minority, and the leadership of the House would not change.
His ruling sparked protests from Azimio-affiliated MPs, who staged a walkout when Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah took the floor to speak.
