His daughter-in-law, Anne Mbotela, confirmed the news, stating that the iconic broadcaster had been unwell for some time before taking his final breath.
Mbotela was a legendary figure in the Kenyan media landscape, best known for his long-running radio and television program, Jee Huu ni Ungwana, which aired on KBC for an impressive 55 years.

Beyond his remarkable career, Mbotela was a devoted family man.
He was married to Alice Mwikali, and together they had three children: Aida Mbotela, Jimmy Mbotela, and George Mbotela. His legacy extends beyond his immediate family to the countless Kenyans who grew up listening to his signature voice and wisdom.
