Nairobi-based dentist Dr. Branice Munyasa has spoken out against comedian Eric Omondi, accusing him of jeopardizing the dental health of young Henry Omondi.
Dr. Munyasa revealed her disappointment after discovering that Henry, who was under her care for comprehensive dental treatment, had received a denture instead of the high-quality treatment plan she had prepared for him.
“Henry Deserved Better”
Branice Munyasa expressed her sadness and frustration in a detailed statement, emphasizing that Henry was on track to receive world-class dental care at her clinic, the same standard provided to paying patients.
She explained that her team had started root canal treatments and planned to save Henry’s teeth with crowns. However, this progress was undermined when the treated teeth were extracted and replaced with an acrylic denture.
“I am honestly very sad to see Henry get a denture when we had offered to give him world-class care that any paying patient would have gotten if they walked into our clinic and asked for the best option. I am also really, really sad to see the teeth we had started working on to save through root canal and crowns have been extracted and replaced with an acrylic denture,” Dr. Munyasa shared.
Commitment to Quality Treatment
Dr. Munyasa clarified that her clinic is committed to providing free dental care for deserving patients, treating them with the same professionalism and quality as paying clients. She highlighted that Henry’s treatment plan was designed to be sustainable and effective in the long term.
“We are currently doing free treatment for two other patients and have given them a slow and sustainable treatment plan that we would otherwise give any paying patient. We were doing the same for Henry. I even took my time to explain to Eric what we were doing and the plan ahead. I wasn’t going to compromise Henry’s treatment for a quick fix for optics just because he wasn’t paying for the treatment,” she explained.
Branice Munyasa on Missed Appointments and Lack of Communication
Dr. Munyasa also revealed that Eric Omondi failed to bring Henry for three scheduled appointments, despite her clearing her schedule to accommodate them.
She called on Eric to clarify why they missed the appointments and why the original treatment plan was abandoned.
“Eric should come out and be clear that he never brought the boy for the three consecutive appointments that I cleared my schedule to wait for them—they never showed up. Surely, Henry deserved better than a denture,” she said.
Public Reaction
Dr. Munyasa’s statement has sparked outrage among her followers and the broader public, with many questioning Eric Omondi’s commitment to Henry’s well-being.
Critics argue that the decision to opt for a quick-fix solution undermines the child’s long-term dental health.
Eric Omondi is yet to respond to the allegations. However, this incident has ignited a broader conversation about the responsibility of public figures to ensure proper care for the vulnerable individuals they support.
