Milimani Court Fines Over 200 Boda Boda Riders Sh35,000 For Obstruction
Over 200 boda boda riders have been charged at Milimani Court with riding down the pavements and causing obstruction.
The riders were seized on Monday and are being held at the police stations in Central, Kamukunji, and Muthaiga.
They each received a Sh35,000 fine after pleading guilty to the two counts.
The riders were apprehended when a female motorist was sexually attacked on Mathai Wangari Road, and the perpetrators were scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has advocated for the formation of a task group to combat the illegal bodaboda trade.
FIDA handed a petition to the National Police Service Inspector General, appealing for women’s security, during a rally on Tuesday.
