Dem Wa Facebook Appeals to Kenyans to Help Pay Irene Nekesa’s rent

Influencer Dem Wa Facebook has stepped forward to support Irene Nekesa, the former nanny to Diana Marua and Bahati, following her heartfelt plea for financial help after leaving her job.

Nekesa, who had worked for the celebrity couple for years, revealed she is struggling to make ends meet. She currently resides in a bare bedsitter and admitted she could not afford the KSh 6,000 monthly rent.

In a viral video, Nekesa showcased her modest living conditions and appealed for assistance, stating her financial woes had left her unable to furnish her house.

“I don’t have money right now,” she lamented, adding that she also bears the responsibility of supporting her child and aged parents, who depend on her limited resources.

Nekesa offered to promote furniture brands on her social media platforms in exchange for household items, hoping to rebuild her life.

Dem Wa Facebook Steps In

Dem Wa Facebook visited Nekesa on Tuesday, November 26, with the intent of offering practical support. In a light-hearted moment, the influencer joked about the small size of the house, saying,

“You can sit on the bed and give a house tour,” as she assessed the space.

The influencer then drove Nekesa to a supermarket, purchasing basic household supplies, including cooking oil, salt, and flour.

Dem Wa Facebook explained that a well-wisher had initially intended to provide furniture but chose to focus on other essentials after Nicholas Kioko’s wife had already donated a bed and sofa.

A Plea to the Public

Dem Wa Facebook concluded her visit by urging Kenyans to step in and assist Nekesa with her rent.

“Let us join hands and help pay her rent for several months to give her stability,” she appealed.

Nekesa’s financial challenges have ignited sympathy among netizens, sparking conversations about the difficulties faced by domestic workers transitioning from high-profile jobs to independent living.

Her story highlights the importance of financial literacy and stability for those in vulnerable employment situations.
