Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has revealed his intention to run for Kenya’s presidency after completing his term as county chief.
During a November 25 interview, Natembeya stated,
“Everything in politics is possible, but from where I sit, once I’m done with the job the people of Trans Nzoia have given me, my eyes are set firmly on the presidency.”
Natembeya ruled out serving as a deputy, arguing it offers limited influence.
“You can’t change things when you’re a deputy; the room for maneuver is very limited, and sometimes just giving advice can cause your impeachment,” he remarked.
Elected in 2022 with a significant margin, Natembeya’s leadership in Trans Nzoia has positioned him as a promising political figure.

He joins a growing list of leaders eyeing the top seat in Kenya.
Among them are Okiya Omtatah, known for his bold legal challenges on constitutional matters; Morara Kebaso, whose leadership advocacy has resonated with grassroots movements; and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, whose tenure as a civil servant earned him a reputation for decisive action and reform.
With various political figures signaling interest, the upcoming presidential race promises to be highly competitive as Kenyans evaluate the next generation of leadership.
